Bethel University Ranked 7th in Nation in Preseason Bass Pro Shops School of the Year Rankings

MCKENZIE, Tenn. -  The Bethel University Bass Team finished in 11th place in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year points this past season. The Cats were just a few points out of the top ten teams in the nation. Bethel had never finished out of the top ten since the ranking platform was introduced eight years ago. Three hundred plus schools compete in the competition for the school of the year title each season.

"That's not a bad record,' said Bethel Head Fishing Coach Garry Mason. "Now that the new rankings have been released showing our Wildcats as ranked in 7th place proves that our guys are still carrying on the legacy of being a powerhouse in the sport of college fishing," added Mason.

Here is the ranking announcement for the Bethel Bass Team from ACA Collegiate Bass
2022 Final Ranking: 11th
School of the Year Titles: 1 (2018)
ACA National Championships: 3 (2013, 2018, 2019)

"There is no arguing that Bethel University is one of the most decorated teams in all of collegiate bass fishing. The team from McKenzie, TN has won the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia once and has claimed victory at the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops on three separate occasions. Entering this upcoming season, Bethel University has been voted as the seventh best team in the nation.

Bethel University entered the 2021-22 season with quite a few unknowns. Several top anglers had recently graduated, and the younger anglers were tasked with figuring out new fisheries and competing against some of the best student anglers in the nation. As the season progressed, Bethel University started to regain its form from season's past. The team picked up a major victory, as well as claimed multiple top finishes throughout the spring.

Entering the 2022-23 season, Bethel University is carrying a great deal of momentum. No stranger to the Tennessee River, Bethel University will be looking to capitalize on the three ACA tour stops at Tennessee River fisheries throughout the 2022-23 circuit.

Can Bethel University reclaim its position among the top of the standings in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia?  We will find out quickly with the ACA season set to begin near Bethel's campus at Kentucky Lake this upcoming September.
