Mother Nature was very kind to all the teams who took part in the first tournament of the 2026 season with unseasonably warm temperatures... The bass were not as cooperative with everyone however! The team of Rick Cummings and Bill McDonald took top honors with a three-bass limit of 16.00 lbs anchored with the day's Big Bass of 6.16. Wow! With their win, Rick and Billy will take the early lead in the trail's year-end team championship race sponsored by Catch A Limit who specialize in bass boat accessories. Check them out at catchalimit.com for all their phenomenal products!

Second place went to the team of Shane Peters and Barry Lux with three bass totaling a very respectable 12.37 lbs. Todd Stone and Randy Rumfelt held on for third place while our old pals Wendall Smith and Randy Lambert took the fourth place check. Congratulations everyone!

Another big THANK YOU goes out to Brandon at The Outdoorsman Shop in Greenwood, IN for their sponsorship of the Big Bass award as well as Liberty Boatwrks for providing this season's plaques.

We look forward to seeing all our teams at our next USA Bassin Geist Reservoir Senior Open on Thursday, April 12th.

We have our 2026 membership cards available. Please feel free to contact us prior our next event to obtain your 2026 membership and avoid the morning rush at our first tournament!

*Teams wishing to purchase their memberships will earn valuable points toward 2026 Regional berths as well as the 2026 SENIOR CLASSIC at Kentucky/Barkley Lakes on October 1st & 2nd, 2026 at the Lyon County/Kuttawa Ramp Facility!

*Entries accepted on a first come/first serve basis 

*Starting positions determined by date entry fee is received (*See tournament rosters below*)

*Returning once again for 2026, the Geist Reservoir Senior Opens are the original and first tournaments of this type and these tournaments are designed with the older angler in mind. All teams must consist of competitors AT LEAST 50 years of age on the day of the event. 

In addition, other notable departures from standard USA Bassin tournaments will be in place. Those include the following:

*A reduced field of twenty-five (25) paid teams

*80+% payback at the ramp (The largest percentage of "Senior" type opens)

*All events will be held on Thursdays

*A mandatory meeting will be held THIRTY (30) minutes prior to take off

*Three (3) bass limit with a minimum size of sixteen (16) inches per bass

*Open events meaning no current USA Bassin membership is required

*Teams wishing to purchase their memberships will earn valuable points toward 2026 Regional/Classic berths

*Entries accepted on a first come/first serve basis 

*Starting positions determined by date of entry (*See tournament rosters)

*Anglers will be permitted to fish alone

*Big Bass Pot included in entry fee

What a season 2025 has been! Lisa & I would like to thank all of our teams who had the confidence in us to take part in the Senior Opens at Geist Reservoir. We certainly appreciate each and every one of you! Congratulations to our tournament winners, Billy Briere and Bill Polson (who subbed for Billy's regular partner) on their win over the second place team of Rick Cummings and Bill McDonald by just .16 of an ounce! WOW.. Well done, gentlemen!

Rounding out the Top 4 was Brad Wattleworth and Dennis Burton in third and Dave Overstreet and his sub, Rick Jones, capturing 4th place. Great job, all!

With their tournament finish, Cummings and McDonald were able to take the title of Top Team of 2025, narrowly edging out Jason Kiser & Jeff Wehner for the title. With that title also came a prize of a Catch A Limit custom Mercury motor support valued at over $225. Special thanks to Billy Briere, owner of Catch A Limit for providing that awesome prize.

Brain Sharp was the winner of the free giveaway for this tournament, FOUR TICKETS to the 2025 Brickyard 400. Enjoy the Race, Brian & Jenny!

As mentioned yesterday, planning has already begun for the 2026 season. Stay tuned for updates and until then, we will see everyone at the fall Regionals and the Senior Classic Presented By Brownies Marine at beautiful Kentucky Lake!

The updated rosters for the 2025 Geist Reservoir Senior Opens are below and includes alternate teams.

If any teams wish to be added the waiting list, please contact Chip or Lisa.

The dates for the 2025 Geist Reservoir Senior Open Tournaments have been determined. As most are aware, as these events are limited to 25 boats, the field will fill quickly. It is suggested that teams contact either Chip or Lisa Ayers to determine availablity prior to submitting payment.

*NOTE- Teams will have the option to withdraw from a tournament or have their entry fee moved to the following event (providing there are positions available) if the tournament director(s) is notified no later than 8:00 PM on the Sunday prior to the event. Any team who fails to contact the director(s) prior to the Sunday deadline will be considered a "No Show" and that team's entry will be included as part of that tournament's payout.
