USA BASSIN TRACKER Cup

May 10, 2014
The 2014 Championship Week kicked off with the USA BASSIN TRACKER Cup

The Tracker Cup fielded over 150 teams from all over the country when they took on Kentucky Lake on May 2nd and 3rd. Many of the teams fishing this event also qualified for other championships and allowed them to get a better feel for the lake during this event as they prepared for the rest of the week. It is a celebratory week and many of the top teams mentioned how much they enjoy fishing the great Kentucky Lake during this week each year.

The top team for this event was Larry Sisk and Todd Dixon who had a two day total of 41.33lbs. "We had almost 20lbs the first day and over 21lbs on the second day. We had two big ones over six during this event and really caught them throughout the day on each day," said Sisk. The team stayed shallow and fished the prevelant buckbrush to take the title. "We flipped and pitched with Sweet Beavers," added Sisk. For the win, the team took home a Tracker 175 TXW with a 60hp Mercury motor valued at $14,995.

Second place was Mike Sircy and Brian Hopkins with 36.79lbs.

Third place was the Father/Son duo of Lance and Jim Freeman who outdueled another Freeman, Steve Freeman and Shawn Penn for 3rd place. Land and Jim had 36.78lbs and edged out Steve and Shawn who had 36.51lbs. Amazingly, both of these teams were 41stand 42nd after the first day but both staged big rallies. The sibling rivalry and bragging rights between Steve and Jim was almost as important as the 3rd and 4th place finishes. Both teams fished shallow during this event.
