Russell wins $20,000 Bethel University Scholarship

This year's scholarship winner is Andrew Russell. In addition to the $20,000 scholarship, he earned the right to fish on Bethel University’s fishing team. He was awarded this scholarship based on his success fishing USA BASSIN with his grandfather, Bill.

This award is given out to a youth based on their achievements over their whole USA BASSIN career. Since they started fishing together in 2017, Andrew has fished an incredible 96 events with us.

For the past three years, the team has been fishing several divisions and spending quality time together.

"The first year, we just wanted to learn and for the past two years we really grinded and pushed ourselves to get better," Andrew Russell said. "We fished night divisions, weekends, and went all over the place."

Russell is grateful for the scholarship that they earned through their dedication of fishing together. "It is definitely a great accomplishment and it has been such a blessing to fish with my grandfather," he said. "I wouldn't choose anyone else to be my partner."

Here are a few of the impressive stats of Team Russell.

  • The team has caught 185 bass over the last 3 years
  • Have weighed-in over 372.54lbs
  • The team’s biggest bass caught in a USA BASSIN Tournament weighed-in at 5.21lbs
  • Since 2017 his team has recorded 6,108 points fishing USA BASSIN tournaments
