Robert and Kyle Burks win for the 2016 season.

The Next Generation division of USA Bassin is for adults fishing with youth. The season points title is a prestigious honor that all of the teams strive for and the father and son team of Robert and Kyle Burks of Indiana have had tremendous success in the points race over the past few seasons.

They won the national points title in 2015 and then again for the 2016 season and are on their way for a third consecutive title for the 2017 season. Kyle was also recently the recipient of a Bethel University scholarship for his success in 2016.

When asked about their keys for success in the Next Generation division, the elder Burks said it comes down to fishing as much as possible. "We fish a lot and in several divisions. We won a few, but had several Top 5 finishes," he says. The duo fishes several divisions including the Green-Sullivan Strip Pit Fall Division, Sullivan Lake, Southern Indiana Fall, Lake Monroe Fall, Patoka Lake, West Boggs Division, Glenn Flint and Turtle Creek among others.

They have been fishing together for years and the have the results to show for it. "We started bass fishing really seriously when he was 12 or 13. We fish and hunt together as much as we can," said Robert Burks.

During the 2016 season they accumulated 2,589 points and competed in 34 tournaments. They caught 87 bass for a total weight of 196.00lbs, which included a 5.75lb bass weighed in during the season.

Congrats Robert and Kyle!
