Carroll County Open

Neal Ramsey and Brent Jones win the $2,500 first place prize!

The Carroll County Open was hed on May 22nd on the Ohio River out of the Carrollton Ramp. The teams were vying for the guaranteed $2,500 first prize when they hit the water Sunday morning.  There was an extensive fog delay of over two hours, but tournament director Billy Brown extended the weigh-in time to ensure that the teams had a full eight hours to fish.

The team of Neal Ramsey and Brent Jones weighed a limit for 11.10lbs and took home the top prize. Ramsey was glad to have the extra time as he was making a 120 mile round trip to his fishing location. "The tournament director came and talked to everyone to let them know we would have more time to fish and that was what allowed us to make that long run," said Ramsey.  He had fished a BFL event the day before and finished 4th place on another pool and knew where he wanted to fish.  The team caught their fish on squarebills, jigs, chatterbaits and a drop-shot, but only had eight or nine bites all day. "It was typical river fishing up shallow and we limited out in about an hour. After that we started fishing spots on the way back and were able to cull once and that got us the win," said Ramsey.

Congrats to the top finishers and thank you to all of the teams for fishing this event. A special thanks also goes out to Carroll County Tourism for all their support as this event would not be possible without them.
