Down to the wire!
Going in to the final tournament of the spring division it was a race to the finish for the top three teams. Team Moats/Lehman pulled out a win in this tournament with 16.53 lbs hoping with would be enough to take the division. Team Hunnell/Nicholson took second place with 14.96 lbs. Team Hensley/Dotson took 5th place in this tournament which was enough to secure the win for the Division. Congratulations on the division win and thank you for being a part of a great tournament series. Taking big fish honors for the spring division was team Robinson/Rumsey with a 6.53 lb largemouth. We have one more divison for this season that will start on Sunday, May 16th. Blast off will be at 6:00am. I will be there at 5 to start registration. I look forward to seeing you there!
The fourth tournament of the spring division brought a new kind of fishing for those who were there. Finally a day when the wind wasn't gusting 20 knots and the temperture was comfortable. 18 boats came to battle and when the weigh in was over it was the Graiden Hensley team with the back to back win weighing in with 17.59lbs. Second place and big fish went to Micah Smith and Blake Smith with 16.89lbs with a 5.60lb kicker. Third place went to Shannon Moats and Blake Lehman with 15.53lbs. The final tournament of the spring division will be a race to the finish. With only 9 points separating the top three teams its anybodies game! Thank you all for coming out and I look forward to seeing you next Sunday!
The second tournament of the winter division sponsored by Red Bird Rods and #candomarine started with a cold north wind at 15mph blowing against a strong current. 15 Teams worked against the conditions with 13 of those teams bringing fish to the scales. When weigh in concluded it was the father/son team of Micah Smith and Blake Smith that took the win with 20.97lbs. Second Place went to Graiden Hensley and Eric Hensley who had 19.18lbs. Third place went to Larry Odom and Joe Meachum with 18.61lbs. Big fish honors went to Chase Hunnell and Mason Nicholson with a 6.45lb largemouth. After the first two tournaments only 5 points separate the top five teams. Congratulations to the winners and thank you all for coming out to fish with us. The next tournament is April 11 out of Danville. Blast off will be at 6:30 am. I will be there at 5:00am to start registration.
5:30 am Sunday morning when I arrived at the ramp to start registration for the USA Bassin spring division opener sponsored by C&O Marine and RedBird Rods, I expected it would be a great day of fishing. What I didn't realize was that some absolute hammers were on their way to the ramp. My son usually asks me who I think might win and we talk about it through out the day. When he asked on this day I couldn't give him a solid answer, there were just too many possibilities. Even with he and I having a tough day I was excited to start the weigh to see how the battle unfolded, and it was impressive! Taking first place with a bag that could compete on any lake was Craig Kay and Luke Smith with 23.50Lbs! Second place went to a Kentucky lake legends Joey Rumsey and Pat Robinson with 18.78lbs and a 6.53lb big fish. Chase Hunnell and Mason Nicholson rounded out the top three with 18.33lbs. We had 18 boats and 8 of those weighed in double digit bags. Congratulations to the winners and thank you all for coming out and competing. We look forward to seeing everybody next Sunday. If you haven't fished our tournaments before I invite you to come and put your skills to the test. I know you'll enjoy it. Thank you all and God bless.
