Latest News RedHot Big Bass Bonanza Wednesday, July 06, 2016 The RedHot Big Bass Bonanza was held on Racoon Lake. Michael Massey and Steve Hanson won the top prize with a 4.02lb bass. Massey and Hanson had never fished Racoon Lake, but fish other USA Bassin divisions. Since they are sponsored by RedHot Custom Lures they decided to fish this event to support the company and because it looked like fun. Hanson knew a guy who fished the lake for crappie all the time and he mentioned that he always catches bass there. "He showed me the brushpiles and places he crappie fishes and that's where we fished. We caught that big one on the 3rd cast and ran back to weigh-in. We were back there before they even had the scales set up," he said. The fish came on a 1/2 oz screwlock jighead with a wide gap hook that Hanson makes. He described it as similar to a big shaky head. "I used that jighead and a 5" RedHot Stik Bait in Green Pumpkin to catch the big one," Hanson said. Another key bait for them was a RedHot Plum worm. The team focused on water that was 10 feet deep and kept their boat in 20 feet througout the day. Congrats guys!
