Latest News West Virginia Regional![]() Wednesday, October 07, 2015 The West Virginia regional was held on Summersville Lake out of the Marina Ramp. The weather was excellent after a few days of poor conditions. The fishing proved to be difficult in terms of weight needed to do well, bit the top teams reported catching multiple fish. First place was the team of Bub Smith and JD Casto with a limit of smallmouth weighing 8.84lbs. They were able to find a protected area that was out of the wind and focused on that area almost exlusively. "The morning bite was really good and we were able to catch several fish right away," said Casto. They relied on reaction baits to take home the guaranteed $1,000 first prize. Second place was Charles Epperly and Drew Boyd with a limit weighing 8.46lbs. "It was slow at first but we went to our second spot and started catching them. They were all over on the sonar and we knew when we got there that the fish were there," said Boyd. The team used very light line, 4lb test, because they felt they got more bites that way. They broke off a few key fish, but believed the lighter line helped them do well in the event. They used tubes fished along the bottom for their second place stringer. Third pace was Harold Taylor and John Robinson with five for 8.30lbs. Congrats to all of the top teams and thank you to all of the teams who competed in this event. Top 10 Finishers:
