Big Bass Bonanza Kentucky Lake

The team of Austin Brown and Kevin Alderdice cleaned up at the Big Bass Bonanza held on Kentucky Lake. Not only did they win first place and the $5,000 that was guaranteed in this event, but they also won three of the four hourly prizes. 

This was the second year of the event and second year fishing the event for the winning team. They believed their knowledge of this section of the lake played a role in their success. "We normally fish that end of the lake anyways so we were able to fish our milk run of spots and still stay close. This allowed us to run back for each of the hourly weigh-ins and not waste too much fishing time," said Brown.

They also had a plan to target big fish only. "We fished a tournament there recently and had twenty pounds for a limit but they were all just four pounders. We knew we had to do something different so we fished a 8 inch Nichols Ben Parker Magnum Flutter Spoon to increase our chances for a big one," said Brown.

Here is how each of the four hourly slots ended up:

• They won the 6:00 am - 8:00 am time slot with a 3.96lb bass
• They also won the 8:00 am - 10:00 am with a 5.16lb bass
• The 10:00 am - 12:00 pm was won by Schroeder and Schroeder with a 4.72lber (Brown and Alderdice were second)
• The 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm was also won by Brown and Alderice with a 3.68lb bass.
