USA Bassin Announces Grizzly Series

USA Bassin Announces Grizzly Series

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Today’s bass boats continue to get faster and faster as the need for speed has taken over the sport. It can be true that a bigger and quicker boat has an advantage in getting to a spot first, but a smaller boat doesn’t mean an angler is going to catch less bass. The USA Bassin tournament trails are full of bass boats of all shapes, sizes and model years; but a new trail has been formed dedicated to one select group. The Grizzly Series is for smaller boats with an 115hp motor or less.
Starting in April, anglers in five divisions throughout Indiana and Illinois will be competing only against boats with smaller engines. According to USA Bassin National Director Kevin Yeary, the Grizzly Seriesl is a result of seeing a need for a new trail, “The guys wanted it and we listened to then. We are really excited about this new trail because it is really a ‘league of their own’ and helps to level the playing field,” said Yeary. He added that the interest is growing with the possibility of adding more divisions throughout the country. “No longer will all of the smaller horsepower boats be last to their fishing spots,” added Yeary.
The Grizzly Series National Director Chad Brock is just as excited about the new trail. “It will allow a lot of new anglers to have the chance to fish on a bigger stage,” shared Brock. He added that many lakes and rivers throughout the country do not set up well for smaller boats and this division will be perfect for anglers looking to fish bigger tournaments and also keep an eye on cost. “Let’s face it, not everyone can afford a brand new boat with a 250HP engine. This will be a good way to still fish a big event and not have to buy a new boat or be at a disadvantage,” mentioned Brock. As the National Director he has been working closely with all of the tournament directors and has seen a rise in interest in the soon-to-be series. “We are getting plenty of interest, especially for our Monroe Division. We have also signed two title sponsors for the series, including the new Big Bear Rods Division,” added Brock. It appears that both the anglers and sponsors are happy to see a trail that caters to an underserved group of tournament bass anglers.
Jim Picou, Tournament Director for the Sullivan Lake Division feels that the trail is going to be a big hit. “I’m really excited for all of the guys like myself who have a smaller boat. We have already seen some anglers sign up for USA Bassin and the whole series,” added Picou. He also mentioned that his division also signed a sponsor for the trail.
The Grizzly Series is sure to be an exciting new tournament trail. Anglers and tournament directors alike are excited for the new series to kick off and get started. To find out more information about the Grizzly Series contact Chad Brock at grizzlybasssin@gmail.com or by phone at 812-797-0307.
