Across the country people in the marine and fishing industry have realized the importance of youth involvement in boating in fishing. Port-of-Jasper Marine has realized it as well. Owners Mark and Patty Jahn are hosting a USA BASSIN open team tournament on July 15th on Patoka Lake. All proceeds from the tournament will be escrowed to the USA BASSIN Next Generation Scholarship fund. The USA BASSIN: The Next Generation is a non-for–profit public charity, devoted to providing educational opportunities that help young people prepare for a brighter future. The U.S.A. Bassin Next Generation is a team based trail devoted to helping our youth prepare for a brighter future while involving them in angling.

Port of Jasper Marine is one of southern Indiana’s oldest marine dealers. Since the dealership was established in 1982 it has grown tremendously with new buildings and inventory. Port of Jasper Marine is located at 1360 Crossroads Ave. in Jasper. The Jahns are now an exclusive Mercury Marine dealer and in 2007 became a Tracker Marine dealer. Port of Jasper Marine offers a full service, sales and parts department. Both Mark and Patty will be present during the tournament to answers question s about their dealership and assist with the event. Registration forms for the event are online at USA BASSIN.COM. BASSIN’s national tournament director Gary Earl will be the director for the tournament. Gary can be reached at 812-583-2994 or at gearl@usabassin.com. The cost of the tournament will be $75 per team plus a five dollar lake usage fee and an optional $10 big bass pot. This is an open tournament, meaning you do not have to be a current USA BASSIN member to participate. If you are or want to be a USA BASSN member, you’ll receive points that count toward your 2012 points standings. Membership fees for USA BASSIN are $25.00 per person.
