Scott Cox and Dan George Tops at Patoka!

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Bass Pro shops in Clarksville, Indiana would host the pre-tournament meeting.  Director Gary Earl would register a full field of teams for the event. 178 qualified USA Bassin anglers from across the tri-state region would compete in what would be the largest regional in the history USA Bassin ’. The number of participants for this year’s Southern Indiana Regional would be an increase of over 5 teams from last year.
As boat check began so did the rain. A drizzle of rain would continue until 10 minutes prior to take off. After take-off, cloud cover would remain till almost noon. Many anglers reported that several of the good quality fish they caught was prior to the sun coming out at noon. 17 five fish limits of bass was brought to weigh master Steve Egan.  331 fish weighing in at over 900 pounds were turned in.
A great job was done by Director Gary Earl’s crew handling and releasing fish caught. Scott Cox and Dan George would be the team on top at this year’s Southern Indiana Regional with an impressive 19.29 pound bag. Dragging a Carolina rigs off deep breaks the two worked three major areas throughout the tournament. The two qualified out of the Waveland Division ran by Director Rick Ingram.
Last year Cox and George did not have enough points together to fish the classic together. So, the two fished separately and finished well.  In the Classic coming up this May they be paired up and will surely be a force to be reckoned with.  Steve and Shawn Harden would fall short of the win by less than a half pound. Team Harden turned in five fish weighing 18.48 pounds for a second place finish.
Jeremy Knepp and BJ Worland would tag the prize of third place with a total of 17.88. Team Knepp and Worland were also the top finishing Nitro boat winning an additional 600 dollars from Brownies Marine and Port of Jasper. George Webb and Jarrod Kerber would only weigh-in 3 fish for 12.51 pounds but one of the three would weigh-in at 6.76 pounds for big bass of the tournament.
David Lagle and John Dybel would bring the second big bass at 6.42 pounds.30 percent of the field for a total of 54 team qualified for the upcoming Nitro classic to be held this coming May on Kentucky Lake. For those that did not qualify for the Nitro Classic they will be invited to fish the Tracker Cup. Information/Entry forms for both the Nitro Classic and Tracker Cup can be found on USA Bassin’ website.
Director Gary Earl would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s Southern Indiana Regional a huge success.
