Latest News Two Bethel Standouts Now with MLF![]() Tuesday, March 28, 2023 MCKENZIE, Tenn. - Two Bethel University Standout anglers head to their rookie seasons with the Major League Fishing Trail. Tristan McCormick and Kyle Palmer will join former Bethel team member Cole Floyd to fish the Major League Fishing tournament trail for the 2023 season. " We are very proud of these three professional anglers and wish the all of the best as they travel across the nation as professional anglers ," said Bethel University Head Bass Fishing Coach Garry Mason. Currently there are seven Bethel Alumni fishing as professional anglers in the 2023 season. Bassmasters and Major League Fishing professional trails are the circuits that these great young anglers compete and fish each year. Tristan McCormick – Burns, Tenn. College standout Tristan McCormick is living his dream of fishing professionally, with seven MLF Top 10s and two runner-up finishes in collegiate national championships to his credit already. Coming out of Bethel University, McCormick has already qualified for the Bassmaster Classic twice, once via college and again when he won the 2022 Bassmaster Open on Lake Hartwell. McCormick has looked good doing just about everything so far, and it's easy to see a path forward for the rookie. Kyle Palmer – Winchester, Tenn. One of many notable Bethel grads, Lake Guntersville has been good to Kyle Palmer over the years with four Top-10 finishes there in the last three years between College Fishing (September 2020 and April 2021), the Toyota Series (February 2022) and the BFL-level (April 2022). He's also made the Top 10 at College Fishing events at Kentucky Lake (March 2019) and Lake Seminole (February 2020). While fishing for Bethel University, Palmer placed third at the College Fishing National Championship on the Harris Chain to qualify for the 2020 All-American, where he was 21st.
