The Uncle Sam Bass Was Hit!

The Uncle Sam Bass Was Hit!

Friday, September 11, 2020

This month, two teams weighed in bass that weighed the magic weight of 5.01lbs for the Uncle Sam Bass Challenge. The prize amount was $7,004 and was split by the two teams.

The winners were Mike and Corey Skaggs, who caught the winning fish on August, 2nd while fishing the Guist Creek Lake Open. Their haul was $3,502!

Corey caught the prize bass and said he was unaware that he won until his buddy Bill Hurle gave him a call.

"He was watching the Facebook Live where they announced the weight and called me and said 'Hey, I think you won' and he told me I better look into it," Skaggs said. "That fish wasn't the big bass of the tournament. Bill and his partner actually won that event and beat me out for big bass with a 5.08lber."

Skaggs was ecstatic to win the prize and said it made up for not winning big bass in the event. He caught the fish on a 13 Fishing Invader creature bait.

The team of Tim Griggs and Rick King caught their 5.01lb fish on August 15th while fishing the KY-33 Barkley Lake Summer Division event. They also won $3,502!
