Latest News KY-26 Grayson Lake Interviews with the Winners![]() Monday, March 29, 2010 One of U.S.A. Bassin's newest divisions KY-26 Grayson Lake had its first tournament held on March 20, 2010.
This division offers anglers in Eastern KY a division to fish that consists of three weekend events and four week day events.
Weather at the start of the tournament was mostly sunny around 45F and by tournament end it rose to around 70F. Water conditions were stained to muddy with water temps between 49-53F.
1st Place Team: Mike Miller/Noah Womack weighed-in (2) L.M. 5.81 lbs. The team fished shallow shale and broken rock banks using crankbaits to catch their keeper fish and six short fish.
“This was my grandson Noah’s (age 10) first tournament he has fished. He was a trooper fishing all day and had a great time. It was a learning experience for him using a spin cast reel and being a part of the action. It was a fun day of fishing for the both of us! This was my first U.S.A. Bassin tournament I have fished. I like what this trail has to offer; it is a nice setup with lots of prizes such as multiple boats given away at the Classic. You can’t beat the low cost this trail offers!” -Mike Miller (Noah’s grandfather)
2nd Place/Big Bass went to Team: Richard Carter/Randy Colley weighed-in big bass 3.86 lbs. I was unable to get any comments from this team.
3rd Place Team: Chris Houston/Austin Jeffers weighed-in (1) L.M. 2.88 lbs. The team fished deep rocky banks and points using crankbaits and jigs to catch their keeper and four short fish.
“This was Austin’s first tournament at the age of 13 he has ever fished. Austin was very excited to be fishing during the tournament! He was my lucky charm, because he enjoyed fishing the tournament and we ended up taking third place in the event. He has been checking the www.USABassin.com website everyday to see the tournament results. This is my first year fishing the U.S.A. Bassin tournament trail, and I really like the website with all the coverage like photos, and articles. I also like the affordability and opportunities this trail offers, such as The Next Generation for the youth. We look forward to continuing to fishing this trail!” -Chris Houston (Austin’s step-father)
