See More Fish Catch More Fish

See More Fish Catch More Fish

Thursday, June 21, 2018

Ever look at your sonar and think you see something, but you’re not 100% sure? So you keep doubling back over the area to confirm what you may or may not have seen? What a waste of time. The Garmin Ultra High-Definition Scanning Sonar System eliminates the guessing and makes my job as a professional angler much easier. Now I make a pass or two, see what I see, see it extremely clearly and move on. It’s so crispy, I can see individual branches on a tree. I mean, I can count the branches and see where they fork. It’s impressive. Before I might have thought I maybe saw one or two fish in a tree. Now I see there are actually three. I’m not to the point of being able to differentiate species – yet – but I can certainly see their sizes and the way individual fish are positioned on structure. Different species position themselves differently. Bass mark horizontally, and that’s what I look for. The Ultra High-Definition scanning sonar system is a really useful tool. A huge step up from previous sonar. It really makes my job easier by making it quicker to select areas to fish. I use it in conjunction with my 2-D sonar. I run two Garmin combo units side-by-side at the driver’s seat. I split one screen in half with Ultra High-Definition ClearVü and one with Ultra High-Definition SideVü. The other unit is split between LakeVü HD Ultra mapping and traditional 2-D CHIRP sonar. Here’s a tip: don’t idle or scan too fast. A lot of people try to move too quickly. The slower, 2-3 mph, the better. So when you get into an area where you think there might be fish, slow it down. Take your time. You’ll see a lot more. See more fish. Catch more fish.
